Melanie Zanona is currently a staff writer for The Hill, covering Congress as it relates to trains, planes and automobiles. She often contributes on-air interviews for national media outlets such as CNN, Fox and C-SPAN, as well as contributes interviews for local radio stations and podcasts.
A Chicago native, Zanona first got her start on Capitol Hill as an intern for Roll Call right after she graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She learned the ins and outs of congressional procedure as a legislative action reporter for CQ, where she was later promoted to health care policy reporter.
In her spare time, Zanona likes to cook Italian food, practice yoga, play with her Boxer puppy and keep tabs on her favorite Chicago sports teams.
